The final season of Monk began airing on August 7, 2009. It consisted of 16 episodes and the series finale was aired on December 4, 2009. This was the first season since Season 1 where the episodes were not split and aired over two separate years. The DVD of the season was released on March 16, 2010.

While the season was airing, USA Network also released a series of ten webisodes titled Little Monk, follwing Adrian and Ambrose Monk's childhoods.
