Mrs. Ling is the owner of a dry cleaner that Adrian Monk used. She can't stand Monk, referring to him as crazy when he complains about how she does his dry cleaning and her style of sewing back on buttons. She did not want Monk using the bell to ring her, knowing his habits, and was tired of his nonsense. She was then pulled to a crime scene where she identified a scarf and recognized Stewart Babcock, a customer whom she appreciated, unaware she just helped the police identify him as a serial killer. Even though she is shocked at the killings, she still appreciates Babcock as a good customer. She later banned Adrian from her dry cleaning store.
