Jack Monk, Jr. is the half-brother of Adrian and Ambrose Monk, the third son of Jack Monk.

Jack, Sr. tells everyone that Jack, Jr. is a successful orthopedic surgeon practicing in Baltimore, a somewhat fanciful lie to cover the reality: that Jack, Jr. is an unemployed "putz" (or rather, a person who dreams one day to become a putz) who lives in his father's basement, smokes marijuana all day long, and steals money from his father's wallet. A career con man, Jack, Jr. was arrested under the alias "Joe Endicott" and imprisoned in California, for selling stolen cars. When his cellmate, "Shiv," tried to escape via a tunnel in their cell, Jack knocked him unconscious and escaped himself. He didn't know that Shiv's escape was a plot by prison guard Daniel Reese to frame an inmate for murdering his mistress, Lindsey Bishop, whose body had been left by the tunnel egress. He attempted to call 9-1-1 upon stumbling on her body in the car, when he had the intention of stealing the car, but Reese shot at him before he could get the chance. Jack, Jr. narrowly escaped the prison and was wanted for murder. He ran to his half-brother, Adrian, and begged for his help in clearing his name, as Lindsey Bishop was well respected among the prisoners, and they would have killed him if he returned before clearing his name. He also promised that when his name was cleared, he would return to jail. Despite this, however, he did tell a few lies: His mother died, but he called his mother (who was presumably an acquaintance of his), and it was also suspected that after Monk cleared his name, he would escape to Paraguay. However, Adrian succeeded, and Jack seemingly kept true to his word about returning himself to jail after his name was cleared, but it is heavily implied that Jack would escape soon after anyway.
