Evan Gildea is a character featured in Season 8. He was a sculptor accused by Adrian Monk of murdering his estranged wife just to avoid facing heavy losses in their divorce. Despite the mountain of evidence built against him, his lawyer, Harrison Powell, managed to save him in court. Adrian soon discovered that he murdered another person, an auto parts store clerk named Sarah Paddock. He killed her the same night he killed his wife, especially when he needed to replace his burned out taillight. When hoodlum Rudy Smith robbed the store and stole her keychain, Paddock pointed out the camera in her store, and knowing this would prove he was there the night of the murder, Evan made it look like she was killed in the robbery while stealing the video camera. He was later convicted of Paddock's murder.
